Dosing
The recommended dose of Hepsera® (adefovir dipivoxil) in chronic hepatitis B patients with adequate renal function is one 10 mg tablet taken once daily, without regard to food. The optimal duration of treatment is unknown.1

It is important to monitor clinical response to treatment and renal function for all patients during treatment with Hepsera, particularly for those with pre-existing or other risks for renal impairment.
Dose Adjustment in Renal Impairment
The dosing interval of Hepsera should be adjusted in patients with baseline creatinine clearance <50 mL/min using the suggested guidelines in the table below. The safety and efficacy of these dosing interval adjustment guidelines have not been clinically evaluated.1
*Creatinine clearance calculated by Cockcroft-Gault method using lean or ideal body weight.
No dosing recommendation is available for non-hemodialysis patients with creatinine clearance <10 mL/min.
